National Youth Sunday 2008 :: Reclaim The Future :: Activities

Get Crafty for National Youth Sunday!

Get CraftyWe love to get stuck in and make things whether it’s a craft, a card or a cake. It’s great fun to have a go at a project and have something to show at the end of it.

Our challenge to you for NYS08 is to have a great day of celebrations BUT to produce all you need without buying anything new. We’ve put together some ideas of things you could make to celebrate National Youth Sunday in style…!

To do this you will have to be crafty (in more ways the one!), you will have to re-use, re-recycle, beg, borrow and scrounge - all in the name of sustainability.

See how much you can do and how little you can affect the planet with your celebrations. Will you become a more sustainable crafty person? So get out there and start rummaging. You could visit the local charity shops and jumble sales, sort through your old clothes, raid dad’s garage and granny’s attic. Dig out long lost tubes of glue and packets of sequins – or ask around to see if any one has got any spare.

Banners
Banners can be used in lots of ways: as decorations and to illustrate or get a message across. Here are just a few to get you thinking.

Banners as decorations
Decorate them with words or images and hang them up around your church or parish Hall.
